FYS 109B REFUGEES: LITERATURE AND FILM

The number of people forcibly displaced is at the highest level ever recorded:  68.5 million worldwide, among them nearly 25.4 million refugees.  In Europe, Germany has received the largest number of asylum applications.  This course introduces students to the current situation of refugees in Germany and the U.S.  Students will interview refugee services from Germany and meet local organizations in Connecticut.  Students will also analyze literature and films produced by and about refugees.
