GOV 254 URBAN POLITICS

A survey of the dynamics of urbanization in the United States, paying attention to the major political and social issues that have accompanied that process. The course examines how cities developed around major structural and demographic shifts; the institutions that emerged to address social, economic, and political problems that arose in the wake of urbanization; and how political power is distributed and marshaled to solve problems and advance particular interests in cities.
