FYS 100S SHOT IN SPANISH

This interdisciplinary seminar focuses on the culture of Spain and Latin American as seen through cinematographic images of the last twenty years.  The course provides a broad survey of the new expressions of Hispanic cinematography, through the work of a group of new filmmakers who are challenging the general perception of Hispanic cinema and breaking national boundaries. Students will analyze some of the most relevant social and cultural aspects of Spain and Latin America during the last two decades, such as questions of nation, gender, race, immigration, otherness, and marginality.
