FYS 100R STEM IDENTITY

There are countless factors that can set even the most prepared student back in the pursuit of a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) degree. This seminar will discuss a number of challenges inside and outside the classroom and ways for students to overcome them. Topics include metacognition, stereotype threat, implicit bias, and imposter syndrome, as well as equity and inclusion in STEM. Students in this course should be interested in pursuing STEM courses during their first year at Connecticut College and should be strongly considering majoring in a STEM field.
