ART 103 DESIGN: VISUAL LANGUAGE

Design: Visual Language A studio introduction to design principles of the printed word, visual language, and writing systems. Basics of visual typographic character forms, classification, organization and hierarchy will be explored in the context of culture and history. The semester will be organized through a series of experimental studio projects exploring a broad range of tools and processes including movable type, brush and ink on paper, and digital drawing and writing tools.
