SOC 236 BLACK IMMIGRANT NARRATIVES

An exploration of the social, racial, and political lives of black immigrants from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. The course draws from classic and contemporary studies on the topic, as well as narratives of key immigrants including Junot Diaz, Edwidge Danticat, Audre Lorde, Stokely Carmichael, Chimamanda Adichie, Issa Rae and the cast of Insecure, and Claudia Jones.
