ENG 339 VICTORIAN SERIAL FICTIONS

An exploration of Victorian fiction via its most notable publication method: serialized installments. Students will approximate the experience of Victorian readers, taking on texts by Dickens, Thackeray, Gaskell, and others in overlapping increments, while also exploring a range of methodological approaches to questions about how literature was produced and consumed in the nineteenth century.

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. For sophomores, ENG 250 is strongly recommended.

Registration Restrictions

Open to juniors and seniors, and to sophomores who have taken ENG 250.
